Future Energy Wales reflections

The team behind the Môr Glas and Môr Gwyrdd projects, made up of a partnership of Hiraeth Energy and Magnora Offshore Wind, have returned after a successful Future Energy Wales conference in Newport.

The event, attended by hundreds of regulators, policy experts and supply chain companies from across Wales and beyond, was addressed by Vaughan Gething MS, Minister for Economy. There were a range of sessions where expert contributors were able to give their opinion on various aspects of renewable energy in Wales.

Hiraeth Energy and Magnora Offshore Wind sponsored the session on ‘getting the technology right’, and were represented by Matt Gready (pictured below), engineering manager at Magnora Offshore Wind. Magnora’s success in the Scottish offshore wind allocation will be invaluable in enabling the partnership to use the best techniques and processes to support local engagement and participation in the supply chain. It also reduces the risk of project development, and the Môr Glas and Môr Gwyrdd projects can benefit from learning from experiences in Scotland

The Môr Glas and Môr Gwyrdd projects continue to be developed apace, with community ownership, local supply chain, and a nature-positive approach all vital to our overall vision.

The event demonstrated the significant interest in offshore wind development in the Celtic Sea, and we enjoyed engaging with stakeholders, supply chain and other developers. It was a superb opportunity to showcase the strength of our team, and demonstrating our passion for maximising the benefit of the Celtic Sea projects to Wales through securing Welsh ownership, regional supply chain content and environmentally positive design.
